CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY

Polarity Therapy healing session"Craniosacral therapy (CST) is a powerful hands-on treatment that supports the body's own wisdom and innate ability to heal. Tens of thousands of practitioners around the world can attest to the effectiveness of this rapidly growing therapy"  Foreword by Dr. Wayne W. Dyer ~ 'From My Hands and Heart'

In the Polarity Therapy model, Craniosacral techniques address the 'Primary Energy'- which is the core layer of  ''Energy Anatomy'.  As an Osteopath and a Chiropractor, Dr. Randolph Stone was well aware of the value of touch and his study of 'Energy Anatomy' was fully integrated into his western scientific training to create a unique blend of modern and Eastern perspectives. Dr. Stone, DO, DC, ND  through his training, led him to a deep appreciation of Craniosacral Therapy.  He had pioneered the techniques of craniosacral therapy thirty years before John Upledger's textbook on the subject.

Dr. Stone's statements about CSF (Cerebral Spinal Fluid) are consistent with and supportive of the revolutionary findings of William Sutherland, DO, of fluid-based Craniosacral Therapy. Dr. Sutherland was the first person to claim to feel a rhythmic shape change in the bones of the cranium, and was the first osteopathic physician to conceptualize the cranial approach and teach it systematically.

CranioSacral Therapy is part of the Polarity Therapy experience or can be a treatment all its own, and is a gentle but effective subtle movement that releases tensions deep in the central nervous system.  A light touch of the head (the weight of a nickel) skilled practitioners can monitor this rhythm at key body points to pinpoint the source of an obstruction or stress  - to help balance the spinal fluid rhythm, working with the sacrum and surrounding tissues to reduce physical and psychological stress will help every other system in the body to relax and self-correct.

Places of restriction, pain or injury, are then released by the gentle unwinding of the connective tissue. This helps the cranial system to release old emotional and psychological stress patterns which enables the recovery of trapped or unavailable life force energy that is of tremendous benefit to the client.

Sessions are done fully clothed so you are able to move comfortably as your body starts to unwind.  You may feel a sensation of floating and letting go. After a session, clients often feel deeply relaxed, like they have had a deep sleep even though they were awake during the treatment

Restrictions are created over time or due to trauma which cause dis-ease in the body.  Some of the traumas that Cranio Sacral Therapy helps are:

Brain & Spinal Cord Injury
Neurological disorder
Fibromyalgia
 Post Traumatic Stress (PTSD)
Autism
Motor Coordination
Skeletal
Isomnia
Chronic Neck and Back Pain
Digestive Disorders
Headaches and Migraines

Central Nervous System Disorders
ADD/ADHD
Chronic Fatigue
Infant and Childhood disorders
Scoliosis

Cranio Sacral works on a physical level, emotional & spiritual level as well.  Kripalu's training gives the Practitioner in Polarity therapy extensive training in subtle listening skills & energetic boundaries to evaluate rhythmic waves (such as a heartbeat) created by the fluid of the cranial/sacral system. Any variations in this rhythm can then be addressed appropriately to restore vitality and maximize to the body/mind connection.
These therapeutic methods within the guidelines of Polarity Therapy as it is taught is designed to assist you on your health and healing journey.

Craniosacral Therapy is not intended as primary healthcare but to work alongside the relationship you have with your medical professional.

There are certain situations where CST is not recommended. This includes conditions where a variation and/or slight increase in intracranial pressure would cause instability, acute aneurysm, cerebral hemorrhage or other  bleeding disorders which can be affected by small intracranial pressure changes.
